Every Tesla car produced since October 2016 already has all the hardware needed to drive itself. Now Elon Musk has claimed full self driving software should be available by the end of 2020 (albeit with a person still needed behind the wheel due to regulatory issues)

Musk had previously referred to Hong Kong as a "beacon city" for Tesla, with the highest ownership per capita of anywhere in the world. It's a shame (depending on your viewpoint) that the Hong Kong Government capped the first registration tax waiver for electric vehicles in April 2017 as it pretty much killed sales for Tesla in the city overnight, however, from registration figures, I'd...

What is DevOps?

It's a topic there is still a lot of confusion about, even within the tech industry itself. A part of the problem stems from a multitude of different definitions and the absence of a "DevOps Manifesto" like there exists for Agile Development. With this in mind I'm pleased to announce the date of my next seminar - "An Introduction to DevOps".

Last week at the AWS Enterprise Summit I sat in on a demo of AWS Device Farm - Amazon's new platform that helps app developers run automated and manual tests on a variety of mobile devices without needing to spend on hardware. For anyone trying to make sense of why messaging companies like Facebook, Microsoft and Slack are investing heavily in bots, and what potential opportunities there might be for third parties, I've written this article for JumpStart Magazine.

I've tried to cover most of the basics, such as:

  • What bots are and what they can do

  • Why messaging companies are getting so excited by them

  • Why some people are claiming that bots might eventually replace apps

  • Where you can test drive the latest bots on some of the big chat platforms

  • How you can build your own bots and what opportunities might come with developing a bot...

I'm very proud to say that ISACA has awarded me the CISM Geographic Achievement Award for the Asia Region!

This particular award is presented for achieving the second highest exam score in Asia for the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) tests - and before you ask, yes, there were more than two people in Asia taking it!!!

I decided to take the exam as the ISACA certification is one of the best internationally-recognised standards focused on the management side of international information security practices - i.e. how to design, implement, oversee and evaluate a company's information security....
